I thought this was noteworthy and a little bit shocking at the same time that the order details posted up to Discover. The cashback/point portals have the order details, but I have never seen it go all the way up to the credit card processor. I was playing around with different portals for cashback and points tracking. Since I didn’t max out the 5% 4th Quarter with Discover, I used it to buy gift cards.
If you look at the screenshots, the order numbers were transmitted to Discover. In addition, it knows if you clicked through the portal or not. I blanked out the vendor and my order number:
The first line, I clicked through using UPromise and the second order I used ShopDiscover. Notice the second line it doesn’t have the Earn 5%, and the confirmation email on the cash back.
