You Could Own Two Chase Freedom Cards

Some readers know that I have a Chase Freedom Visa and a Chase Freedom Mastercard. I received a letter from Chase notifying me that they will replace my Freedom Mastercard with a Visa.

What’s awesome is that I will get to keep the new Freedom Visa which means I’ll have two Freedoms at my disposal for the quarterly calendar.

Having the two Freedoms have been hugely beneficial because I could manufacture spend $3000 per quarter versus $1500 of a single card holder. In 2013, it was very profitable with the rotating categories. So far, this year hasn’t been too good. I’m hoping that the department store category will be a good one again like last year with Neiman Marcus.

  • So you are going to have 2 freedom Visa? If that’s the case, can you have a 3rd freedom that will be a MC?
And can you have more than 2 freedom cards?

    • Come October, I should have 2 Freedom Visas. There has been talk of unofficial publications that Chase is shifting away from all Mastercards and moving to Visa only which is the cause of this product change.

That’s a good question, I’m not sure if you could have more than 2 Freedom’s. I was lucky that I started off with an old Washington Mutual Mastercard which was converted into a Freedom Mastercard and soon will become a Freedom Visa

  • You’ll probably also be able to get a third if you downgrade a CSP into a freedom.

    • That’s an excellent tip! Any of the Ultimate Reward earnings card can easily be converted into a Freedom!
