I have taken a look into this further for you and can see that cash back is not awarded on the purchase of Gift Cards.
Therefore if you were to purchase a Gift Card from this merchant then you would not be eligible for the cash back.

Not satisfied, I tried something that I do at the retail stores, buy a gift card with something else. In this case, I ordered some paper cups. I received notification from TCB about my transaction and I was eager to check it out.
Unfortunately, Office Max did not give me 6% back on the purchase. I placed a 125.98 order and received 6% only on the $24.99 purchase of cups for $1.49.
