Limited Opportunity For Manufactured Spending Fee Free

I’ve discussed a couple of times about paying tuition here and here. I just stumbled upon an opportunity that just wow’ed me because of the generous policies:

Refunds

Cardholders may request a refund of  outstanding balances. Upon submission of the  Action Form, remaining balances will be refunded. Refund checks will only be issued at the end of semester unless the cardholder submits proof of withdrawal from school from the Registrar.

I’ve redacted the card name as I plan to describe in further detail in either in a password protected post or as a new thread in the Forum. I haven’t decided on the medium yet. EDIT: I’ve decided to continue with this thread in the Forum

As you can see on the billing information, they will only accept Visa or MasterCard.

Receipt for the $25 card:

credit cardConsidering I have to pay a 2.5% ‘convenience’ fee of paying with a credit card for tuition I would have expected a fee as well.

Add it all together, fee free and an incredibly generous return policy, this opportunity is easy to take advantage. Submit charges throughout the semester and then at the end of the semester request a refund. Rinse, repeat, recycle while in school and how about some fee free manufactured spending?

  • Interesting idea. Unfortunately for me, my school would just refund to the original source and not refund the “convenience” fee!

  • Chicken shit way to MS. Ripping off a bank that preys on the ignorant or a very large multinational that pays people a pittance for the privilege of being treated like crap is one thing. But ripping off a school is as low as it gets.

I do see what you mean, if someone were to hit it and quit it hard, I can see students being further disadvantaged when they assess a CC fee

  • All MS is chicken shit anyway. I love it when people MS and then think some methods are more ethical than others. What a joke. I MS, don’t get me wrong. I’m not proud of it. At least I am honest. I provide no service or product or tangible economic benefit other than to myself. That’s pretty sad really and completely self centered. It’s, in my opinion, borderline unethetical and in many cases violates agreed to terms with the credit card or financial instituion you are taking for a ride. If you try to justify MS, you are in denial about what you are doing. I know one famous full time MSer, MM, who frequently uses the phrase “being a good steward of MS”, implying bloggers should shut up about good MS deals. What hypocrisy.
