Gift Card Churning – Save On Postage

The United States Postal Service has seriously been pushing the “If it fits, it ships!” and it provides an exceptional value for gift card churners. I highly recommend it because you can ship the box above for $5.80 with a tracking number and can fit 50 gift cards comfortably.

FedEx offers a similar plan called One Rate. Reading the rate guide is pretty useful if you ship a large amount of goods.

To calculate the shipping charges for Fedex, here is the link to go to their rate tools page.

Playing around with the calculator from where I normally ship my gift cards to Cardpool’s San Francisco PO Box the rates are:

$9.50 to ship a small box or a Fedex Pak. I will pass on this shipping service since it’s almost twice the price of USPS.

It makes very little sense to use FedEx’s One Rate service for gift card churning. I’m not sure if Cardpool is opened on Saturdays or not, because I have received emails from them about a payment processing. Using the USPS flat rate shipping, the box could be delivered on a Saturday.

Keep in mind though, FedEx could provide a cheaper service, but the shipping time would be longer. In addition, if you sign up for the American Express Business Gold card, you could receive a discount or earn extra Membership Rewards through OPEN savings.

  • I’m missing something: Cardpool gives you a free shipping label, so why are you paying to ship at all?

    • Hey, Ed – just shot you an email. In short, it’s because Cardpool lacks a tracking number with their free shipping option.
