CVS Self Checkout Changes

Two weeks ago I had posted about how checking yourself out at CVS is better to purchase large amount of prepaid cards because there was less scrutiny.

Readers KP and pier11 mentioned that if the purchase is $499 ID isn’t required or a $500 purchase it would have been a similar process as the self checkout.

I went to CVS yesterday and the POS must have updated because the printer printed a small receipt that said the self checkout can only sell a max of $250 and in order to purchase a higher denomination, you must see the cashier.

  • I noticed this too, I thought it was only the CVS that I went to, but it’s in all the CVS around NYC. Such a bummer…

    • It really is a bummer! I liked being able to do my own thing and the cashiers not caring all too much to unlock the self check out POS

      • Exactly, they come scan their card and I swiped my own until they come again to enter the last 4 digit.
